How to chose the protocol VPN

We always want find the best VPN to use,but even it is stand in front of you,do you know how to use it?

The first thing we should face is the protocols of VPN,even now most VPN provider give Automatic selection option, but do you know which is suitable for you,if you want to watch video, you need high speed, you should chose PPTP,Does the software or App right?Sometimes you need choose it yourself.

Now,Let’s see what is the differences between the popular protocols of VPN.

PPTP was the first VPN protocol that was supported by Microsoft Dial-up Networking.

It is one of the most common, easiest to set up, and computationally fastest, it is quite old and widely used and supported protocol.

So PPTP is typically used on older operating systems and older mobile devices. The downside is that there are some known security vulnerabilities. PPTP is not recommended for very sensitive information, but is recommended for low risk speed intensive browsing, like streaming video.

L2TP is published in 1999 as proposed standard RFC 2661, Because L2TP does not provide strong encryption or authentication by itself, another protocol called IPsec is most often used in conjunction with L2TP, IPSec is often available in mobile devices single,Now, when you read L2TP usually it means “L2TP with IPsec”, L2TP and IPsec is much more secure than PPTP, but also slightly slower.

OpenVPN is an open-source software application, though it is open-source but believe me if at all possible, it is recommended that you use this. While it typically offers faster access speeds than L2TP, it does require a 3rd party software and certificate files to be installed in order to use it. It uses a custom security protocol that utilizes SSL/TLS for key exchange, and it uses the OpenSSL library to provide encryption of both the data and control channels.

OpenVPN UDP runs best on a UDP port, which is generally faster.but it is not supported on all devices. Recommended use when target server is in the same continent and the end user is not in a rural area.

OpenVPN TCP is error-checked, This results in increased reliability at the expense of latency. but it is not supported on all devices too. Recommended for connections to servers that are far away or if the end user shows packet loss when connecting to server.

SSTP is owned directly by Microsoft and is available for Windows only, it is much less susceptible to blocking by firewalls than L2TP,and it is generally considered to be one of the most secure protocols.

IKEv2 often available in newer mobile devices for suiting the change of envirement,it is fast as L2TP, and it is more security than L2TP. Recommended use this in your mobile phone.
